Code Geass R2 – Will there be a Season 3 or R3? (Anime)
Let’s start by saying that Code Geass season 1 was awesome and R2 was still awesome. The ending was unexpected and very much aligned with the coolness of the series. Is this the end though? Will there be a season 3? Did Lelouch die? I found this youtube video of episode 25 of R2 and someone posted up an analysis of why they believe Lelouch isn’t dead which I think would be sweeeet! Check it out and let me know what you think:
“Lelouch IS NOT DEAD, here is the explanation:
1. He killed his father and he has his code, but it gets active when the user dies. Remember, in C.C.’s memories she says: “Please, get out of my body” reffering to the Geass when she dies for first time and realizes that she is inmortal. Well the Geass gets active in Lelouch when he dies.
2. C.C. is talking with Lelouch… think again: She never talks again with Marianne when she dies completly or she never talks or see Mao when he dies, so… Lelouch is alive.
3. In this final scene C.C says: “The power of Geass brings loneliness…thats not quite right is it, Lelouch?” So… if Lelouch is not alone anymore and is with C.C… he must to be the wagon driver, ne?, look how C.C. nods her head in the direction of the wagon driver =)
4. R2 = R.R. in japanese the “L” letter is pronunced like a “R”, so If all is pronuntiation we have this:
R.R. = L.L (In english) = Lelouch Lamperouge so… he is inmortal.
Another exponation with the pronuntiation is C.C.’s name… it’s never have been revealed, but her name must to be Elizabeth, ¿why?
C.C. = Sissy = Some people calls Sissy to woman called Elizabeth.
Just a pronuntiation game.
5. Lelouch traspassed his memories to Nunally before “die”… only a user with a powerful code can do it… we know that C.C. can do it, but not Lelouch, so… he is inmortal.
You have to analyse every chapter and understand the Geass power to conclude this, but believe me, LELOUCH IS NOT DEAD!! =P”
So there it is…I don’t know if the writers can pull out of their butts a meaningful season 3 but I’m still hoping they can. And if Lelouch is immortal now and travelling with C.C. ….DAMN he’s a lucky guy and Suzaku got the shaft!!! lol

srry to shot a hole in your statment… lelouch bacame a code user like C.C. Also it was him that was stabed by suzaku and since hes has code, hes immortal so he let himself get stabed so that no one else had to die while he runs away with C.C.
1I am really praying to god hes alive and there is a rumor that came out with megami magazine that the makers said something about announcing in the not too distant future, also there was some youtube video i saw a few days ago with new pics of lelouch and CC, anyone think maybe they will announce it at jumpfesta?
2@voiceofreasonornotisback-Lelouche is most likely alive cause the guy code users dont have the mark on there heads… its on there right hand… his right hand was covered in blood so the people watching couldnt have known… also y Orange boy sayed strike true knight… he wouldnt have let lelouche die for no reason… also that part with C.C. in the church… think she was sad cause u they said u loss your memory when u became a code user… so she was most likely sad cause she didnt know if he would still like her.
p.s. i still stick with my thought of a branch of the BK going bad… starting a new main charactor and lelouche gettin shot a cupple of times trying to tell karen and the others hes immortal… that or finding theres another battle between them and the gods but that would suck cause then it will more or less lead to somthing like Gurenlagan… i hate that show

3it would get tiresome… the thought of the BK going bad would lay ground for (more or less) more experiments on Geass/code making room for more code users and other factions that might try to help or distroy lelouch and the new main. thats all that i say… that and i realy hope that if they make another they use karen the shoot him a bit so she can get teh idea of immortality in her head :3
4I completly agree with you.I was thinking the same thing.If people would actuelly open there eyes and pay attention to the series they would know exactly what the geass code does and see the meening of it all.If your a real code geass fan you would know that lelouch is not dead all the facts point to him haveing his fathers code.just pay more attention to what you have to do to obtain the geass code and I think you will see that he is in fact alive.

7The following is MORE DEFINITIVE PROOF that Lelouche is still alive:
1. Think: how did C.C. become immortal? She killed the nun who first granted her Geass. Whenever you kill someone with “Code” you yourself acquire the code. Emperor Charles, Lelouche’s father, has the “code.” And who killed Charles? Lelouche did. Therefore, Lelouche acquired the “code” and is therefore immortal…
1a. But wait a second…That would mean that Lelouche would lose his Geass (since whenever you acquire “code” you lose Geass, just like CC did). Therefore he couldn’t have gotten the code from Charles because you can’t be immortal AND have Geass…
1b. But wait, didn’t CHARLES have Geass AND was immortal at the same time?! That would mean it is verified by the series that someone can both have a “code” AND have Geass at the same time. Therefore it still remains possible that Lelouche is still alive. This supports the interpretation that Lelouche’s final scene in the series is NOT of his death, but rather of him driving the carriage for C.C.
2. Epilogue: Also Notice that in the Epilogue, Kallen talks to the picture of Lelouche inside her head because she believes him to be dead. C.C., however, talks to Lelouche OUT LOUD. This additional piece of information adds to the evidence that Lelouche is alive.
3. The Origami Pink Swan. Those who believe Lelouche to be dead would say that C.C. is personifying the swan as being Lelouche. And to give that point of view due credit, Lelouche did say during one of the many philosophical discussions that he would be immortal through his legacy as Zero (since a symbol cannot die). However, one must note that C.C. was NOT at the assassination of Emperor Lelouche. In addition, why would C.C. allow Lelouche to die BEFORE HE FULFILLS HIS PROMISE TO KILL HER? The entire POINT of C.C.’s character is to keep Lelouche ALIVE UNTIL HE FULFILLS HIS PROMISE. Why would she allow him to die without fulfilling her promise knowing full well that she desperately has a desire to die?!
2a. C.C.’s PACT: The fact is that in order for her to allow Lelouche to die before he kills C.C. is for C.C. to be INSANE. And in order for C.C. to TALK TO A FUCKING PINK ORAGAMI SWAN, she’d have to be INSANE. So either C.C. is INSANE in these two instances, OR she is simply an odd girl who is also a GENIUS throughout the ENTIRE SERIES. She’s saved Lelouche’s life twice, conducted complicated plans that furthered along Lelouche’s life and plans. So my conclusion is that it would be OUT OF CHARACTER for C.C. to allow to Lelouche to die AND to talk to a Pink Swan.
CONCLUSION: LELOUCHE IS MOST LIKELY ALIVE, although there remains the interpretation that he died and I do not deny your right to interpret it that way. The ARROGANT assertion that there is one way to interpret this, and art in general, is ridiculous. There is simply a MORE supported and LESS supported interpretation as well as a MORE reasonable and LESS reasonable. They are discovered to be MORE or LESS by, for example, the consistencies of character traits, avoidance of contradictions within the plot, and other logical relationships within a work of fiction. Oh, and YOUR WELCOME for finally uniting both sides of this debate so that we may MOVE ONTO season 3 where it MAY or MAY NOT involve Lelouche because it COULD EASILY BE A PREQUEL (such as in the time that the Ragnarok Connection was built…remember, “ANCIENT” technology?! They could even have NIGHTMARES but, like in most Final Fantasy games, were lost through history…and wasn’t Lelouche’s nightmare (the one he stole with C.C. in season 1) discovered in some ancient cavern? WOOT WOOT, 100 SMILES FOR CODE GEASS PREQUEL!!!!
8and one more thing…who the hell DRIVES A HORSE AND CARRIAGE in the FUTURE?! They have NIGHTMARE frames with “energy wings.” So why have a stupid goddamn HORSE AND CARRIAGE? The only thing that makes sense is for the two of them to be hiding out where no one would ever look, and that would be some farming community because, for some reason, everyone who took part in the Code Geass series decided to PICK FRUIT AND SHIT despite them having brilliant military services, fighting skillz and most of all, POLITICAL POWER. Peace requires diplomacy, and wouldn’t people with former political lives be PERFECT for this new world?
9first im going to shot some holes in your statemant… code and geass can survive at the same time. one how has both loses geass when they die and code kicks in so they come back to life… second C.C. changed her wish because she had may chances to die and she said in her fight agains karen that “i think i have gathered enought memorys and i think i should start living”(dont quote me) so i say she just wants to me loved. that would also give credit to her in the church cause any normal person would be sad if they loved some one but that some one forgot them… and for the horse coment. id day horses dont need energy fillers so theyed never need to go to a town and show that lelouche is alive…

fuck what would they even make for another series?, yes lelouch may be still alive, but that was intended to wrap up the show. best fucking ending/show I’ve ever seen, but unfortunately that makes people want more of the show.
11Personally I think he’s still alive and this is why……….. The Code is the power of immortality, which C.C. has. The 98th Emperor of Britannia, Charles, has the Code. He transferred the Code to Lelouch while strangling him in episode 21. Lelouch wanted this, and he deliberately told Suzaku to not interfere.
12However, the Code does not activate unless receiver dies first. This is shown when the nun kills C.C. after transferring the Code to her. Charle’s Code activated when he shot himself. Here is one of the big misconceptions that most people have: The transfer of the Code does not involve death of the transferrer. The nun was crazy and killed herself after she transferred her code. VV was injured from the battle and died. So basically, after episode 21, Lelouch had Charles’ Code (inactivated) and C.C’s contracted Geass.
When Lelouch got stabbed by Zero/Suzaku at the end, his Code was activated. What supports this is that Nunnally got Lelouch’s memories when she touched him, just like Lelouch did when he touched C.C. back in Narita. The only way this could have happened is his Code activating. This pretty much confirms that he has the Code.
Unlike C.C., and Charles, who lost their Geasses because the people who contracted them died, Lelouch didn’t obtain C.C.’s Code and thus kept his Geass, while having the Code (which he obtained from Charles at the same time). Lelouch therefore has achieved CODE GEASS.
to all those out there that say they may no make another… yes they do sometimes bring stuff back… japanese people do know a little english because they work with america one of the biggest consumers in world trade… so if your going to say fuck or something like that… just dont cause i just look up this one ones a week or so to see if theres others that still like the show like i do! no need to piss people off…

1.)on the final episode after suzaku stabs lelouch and orange calls for a retreat you couid see orange smile why wouid a person that wouid give his life for lelouch because he is the son of his lives love smile before his death unless he knew what was going on and was in on the plan and that is why he gave a ceass fire
2.)C.C. has never spoken to anyone who was dead why wouid she start for lelouch
3.)why wouid C.C. allow lelouch to die when he still hadent fulfilled his promise to make her feal loved (if you pay attention you knotice that that is her wish when lelouch enters her mind)
4.)charles takes V.V. code and C.C. code to “destroy god” lelouch stops him by using “god” to destroy him when you kill some one with a code you obtain their code so wouident lelouch have both C.C. and V.V. code
5.) on the final episode it showes C.C. crying in a church and she says “lelouch as a price for casting geass on others you” i belive that she is gonna say you will become emortal (to C.C. immortality is a bad thing)

21Personally, yes, i agree and came to the conclusion along with my group of friends who are CG fanatics that Lelouch IS alive.
But unfortunately, even if he IS alive, that doesn’t give them any reason to want to make another season.
Making another season would spoil this fantastic ending that CLAMP came up with. (I’d hate CG to become another Naruto, Bleach or Detective Conan series)
Although I’d fully support a CG side story.
So, side story made into a short and sweet series, yes. Another season to make CG into one of those endless loop animes? No thank you.
Anyway, to sum it all up. I believe Lelouch is alive. But even if the whole world thinks that, Lelouch being alive doesn’t equate to a 3rd season of CG.

22I disagree with the endless loop type of anime. I think as long as the storyline progresses and moves and it’s GOOD then the makers should just keep it going. An endless loop show would be the Simpsons, no one ever ages and the stories are all miscellaneous. At least in Naruto, the characters are growing and maturing and the storylines are actually connected.
The challenge for the makers of CG is to captivate the audience again if they decide to make a season 3. I wouldn’t consider it a loss for them to do so unless it totally bites.
23i think if they keep it going make it like 100 years in the future where the blackknights have become corrupt and then new hero/heroin rebels against them for some reason(most likely for family or love) but turn in to some thing like leloush who started with nannaly then went to having to think about the group… and make it like leloush is her back up and C.C. is the reason hes in the fight… maybe throw in a new code user or two

31Well i hope there will be a third season but C2 talks with Marianne a lot, just like she talks with Lelouch in the end. But i hope i’m wrong and he is the driver :S and also when she prays she says that the price he’s going to pay for using his Geass power on the people will be a dear one. This may refer to 2 things:
321The first one is that Lelouch said that he will grand a wish called Geass to every person in the world.
2The second one is that he used Geass to make people see him die, but i doubt that this is the case because he has already used his Geass on the princess and most of the people there…
But anyway i hope there will be a third season, though what will it be about – now that the world is safe and there isn’t war, Zero is there for the people. So, the facts point to not having a third season. Or V2 must survive in order to give Geass to someone else so that this person can become the bad character and the war to start once again.

43@ Lukchin: I saw it both Dubbed and Subbed. The sub wasn’t for me, as Lelouch’s voice was too deep. I think Johnny Bosch did a good job in the Dub. Plenty of emotion at the right times. One of the few good Dubs around.

45Alot of people argue that, in the final scenes of the last episode, C.C. was talking to Lelouch in the same way as she talked to Marianne.
However, this is impossible, due to Mariannes Geass.
It was confirmed in the Anime, that Marianne’s Geass allowed her to access the mind of other’s. When she was shot and killed by V.V., she used her Geass to hide herself in Anya’s mind.
Lelouch’s Geass power was to make people submit to his will, nothing like Marianne’s, and so eliminating the possibility of C.C. communicating with him the same way she communicated with Marianne.
People also talk about C.C. Talking to the pink crane, in reference to Lelouch.
I think the pink crane was shown, not to represent Lelouch, but to represent what Lelouch said about crane’s earlier on in the series, and them representing wishes, and how they were important to Nunnally.
And so, unless C.C. has gone insane, she must be talking to Lelouch in some way.
What’s the logical conclusion for this? Lelouch is the driver of the cart!
Also, not raising this as a point, but did anyone else see C.C.’s eyes sorta perk upwards, in the direction of the driver, as she regarded Lelouch?
