SUZHOU, CHINA – August 15, 2013 –  Snail Games announced that its upcoming Steampunk vs. fantasy MMORPG,  Black Gold Online, will host a new and innovative monetization model, offering players a unique, purely optional  save mode  to maintain their in-game progression: “Optimal Time-Based File Save Model.”

Featuring a spin on the free-to-play and subscription models, respectively, the new  Black Gold Online progression system ensures that gameplay options are made easy, whether through purchase of only desired items in the player’s inventory or a specific completed gameplay timeframe catered to their accessibility.

“We’re focusing on giving our players choices when it comes to their gameplay experiences – they decide what premium items to pay for and whether a play session is worth saving,” said Shi Hai, Founder and Chairman, Snail Games. “We decided to introduce an innovative monetization model based on player habits and overall gameplay time. Unlike a micro transaction model requiring the player to frequently shop for items, or a subscription-based model where players pay a monthly service, our model allows players to dictate their own gameplay progression.”

After a fixed duration in the game,  Black Gold Online  will record players’ data, providing them with the opportunity to either save or delete their progression through purchased in-game gold (using real-life cash).

Pricing details for the elements of the  Black Gold Online  monetization model will be announced later for North America.

Black Gold Online  combines the magic-filled world of fantasy with the mechanized, gothic world of steampunk. Additionally, characters will have the ability to change forms and drive giant armored mechs in combat, creating a variety of fun and different encounters.
